관장군 사당 - Nghia An Hoi Quan

티엔허우 사당을 찾아가던 길에 우연히 관우사당을 먼저 만났습니다.

물론 처음엔 여기가 티엔허우 사당이라고 생각했습니다. 규모가 훨씬 더 컸거든요.

그리고 불교사원이라고 생각했었는데 그것도 아니었습니다. 관음보살이나 부처님은 그 어디에도 보이지 않고 유비와 장비를 좌우에 세운 관우 장군이 사당 한 가운데에서 눈을 부라리고 있었기 때문입니다. 물론 그분이 관우장군이라고 알아 본 것은 내가 한자들을 다 읽었기 때문은 아닙니다. 누가 봐도 그렇게 보일 뿐더러 입구 광장 벽면 그림들 중에 '도원결의'라고 쓰인 사진도 있었기 때문입니다.

관우사당이라면 종교라기 보다는 무속에 가까운 것인데 이런 것이 베트남에서 어떻게 허용되고 유지되고 있는지 의아했습니다.

현지 화교들의 저력이라고 봐야 할까요?

Noteworthy for its gilded woodwork, this temple has a large carved wooden boat hanging over its entrance and inside, to the left of the doorway, an enormous representation of Quan Cong’s red horse with its groom. The temple is more accurately a guildhall (Hoi Quan), built in the early 19th century by Chinese from Yian (Nghia An) in China's Guangdong province.

Quan Cong – also called Quan De or Quan Vu, a deified Chinese general from the Three Kingdoms Period (184–280) – occupies a position in a glass case behind the main altar, with his assistants flanking him on both sides. Built by the Chaozhou Chinese population of Ho Chi Minh City, this pagoda is hidden behind a sinister-looking gate. The pagoda is noteworthy for its gilded woodwork: a carved wooden boat hangs over the entrance and to the left is a large representation of Quan Cong's horse and groom. At the ornate altar, greet Quan Cong himself, to whom the temple is dedicated. Nghia An Hoi Quan Pagoda is located at 678 Nguyen Trai in Saigon's Cho Lon district.

Marvel at the door gods painted on the temple's front door. The statue of ong Bon, the keeper of happiness and virtue, resides in a glass altar to the right of the main sanctuary. Nghia An Hoi Quan Pagoda is one of the oldest temples in Saigon. Built in the 19th century by HCMC's Chinese congregation, the pagoda is dedicated to Quan Cong, a deified general who lived during the Han Dynasty.

으리으리 합니다. 입구에는 거지들이 진을 치고 있었습니다.

정문 입구엔 뭔가 공사가 진행중이었는데 별도의 사당이나 무대 같았습니다.

이런 정교한 조각품이 붙어 있습니다.

이분은 누구실까? 말은 적토마이리라 사료됩니다만...

사당의 사무실 부분. 전에 벤탄시장 근처 힌두교사원에서도 잠깐 봤지만 사원의 사무실에도 꼭 호치민 아저씨가 저렇게 벽 위에서 웃고 있었습니다.

유바와 장비를 거느린 관우장군. 웬지 유비가 불쌍한 생각이 들기 시작했습니다.

오른쪽의 이분이 필시 유비. 그래도 촉나라 왕이었는데...

왼쪽에 야차같은 눈을 한 이 분이 장비 장군.

사당 중간의 제단에서 장비와 유비는 더욱 존재감이 작아집니다.

사당 도처에 있는 제단엔 관우, 유비, 장비의 모습이 보이는데 저 뒤의 할아버지는 누구일까요?

사당에서 예를 올리는 기본 자세인 듯.
